Heath Ledger

Heathcliffe Andrew Ledger (got it off t2) died on 22.01.2008. He probably overdosed. It's a sad end to a pin-up boy with brains and, for once, the ability to play complex roles, unlike other pretty, brawny, blonde men *cough, Brad Pitt, cough*. There's a sense of loss, waste, and OMG, Heath Ledger, OMG. Ledger played complex, often brooding characters to near-perfection, though he also acted in films like A Knight's Tale. The best role was probably in Brokeback Mountain, but, hey, I haven't watched all his films and (and that's an important and) I'm a die-hard slasher, so Heath Ledger and Jake Gylenhall blew my brain to bits with their sheer perfection. The hug, the shirt, the kiss. Right, I had a point. What was it? Oh, right. He was a good actor who didn't simply float into roles that would just showcase his prettiness. Rather, he did roles that undermined his looks. Who's nominating the Joker for the handsomest man about town, eh? Perhaps more important, the man has a two-year-old daughter with his ex-wife Michelle Williams, who will now grow up without a dad. So, yeah, it's a stupid death. But, y'know, it's a death. One man who decided not to live any longer, or just died because he took too many pills. There're are a lot of things happening that're much worse. Five kids died because the LPG cylinder in their pool-car / van exploded. There's a bird flu going. The Stock market is not very healthy. Bhajji is pretty screwed. The Monkey Man is missing. So, this devoted fan proposes that we take a minute to look at Heath Ledger's beauty, and let him rip.

And then, life. Can we please watch Brokeback Mountain again, soon, Nilanjana and you and I? And Arindam, if he ever reappears?
