Mishaps and Mixtures

I had an accident today, one that thankfully did not culminate in serious injury. I fell out of an auto, or, as Rudrani insists, flew out it, landing on the other side of the road, on the road itself. Have several bumps on the head and a nicely purpling bruise on the knee as souvenirs, but nothing else. Rudrani was not so lucky. She was sitting on the back of a bike when a taxi rammed into it and she flew (yes, that word again)across Red Road. Rudrani, poor child has ended up with stitches and an arm in a cast. Reeti had a minor accident as well. Her car got hit by another and she narrowly missed getting her arm taken off. We're a rather accident-prone bunch. ;D P.S. Rukmini walked into a tree yesterday while walking towards Dhakuria. She insists that this be mentioned. I was trying to spare her the embarrasment, but *shrugs* considering she's blogged about it, I guess she doesn't care. Besides, she has a cut on her forehead, so it does count as an accident.

In other news, it's almost time for elections. Lav has been bullied and Rukmini presumably persuaded (I cannot imagine anyone, much less Mahadyuti, bullying her) into standing for elections. There needs to be one more candidate. And this, unfortunately poses a problem. Both Rukmini and Lav are from our group and it's highly unlikely that the rest of the class will vote for them. However, we don't think anyone else wants to be a candidate. Normally, I wouldn't give a damn. But the discussion today threw into stark relief the divisions in our class. There's us, to begin with. Sixteen of us, the single largest, and loudest group. Then there're the Pointers, who I'm pitching Sharadsoumya in with. Then Anway and his groupies. Then the Bangladeshis; the Nepalis, who I think remain mostly in their own tiny groups. Arijit's group of five are pretty self-contained as well. The Bangali Staads Reeti has famously blogged about and the less said about them the better, so I won't. And last, but certainly not least, the Herd. It's a pretty mixed demographic, when you think about it. What's really odd is that the two largest groups in the class are also the two most different, in manners and mentality. BTW, is the Herd proper composed mostly of the SC-ST lot, or is that just me being a bitch? Eh, whatever.

What about my accident?! I suppose walking straight into a tree doesn't count? *raises eyebrow*

No, the herd very definitely does not consist of sc-st people.

Ah. OK. Just me being a bitch, then.

like i said before, people will always vote for people who they believe in...and im quite glad that the gap is being bridged...i mean, people will always have their own friends, but I think as a class and as a batch we're finally getting to know each other...which is a very good thing really.
